The successful candidate will interview and counsel prospective international and domestic students and their parents in order to ascertain their qualifications and provide academic program and admissions program information; reviews international and domestic applications for admissions in order to determine students' eligibility for acceptance to the University; corresponds with and visits secondary schools and community colleges in order to inform counselors and students about the University and to solicit their interest; determines eligibility and certifies admission; designs and implements recruitment plans for domestic and international students; assists in planning and/or participates in scholarship programs and on- and off-campus recruitment programs in order to generate interest in the University, including community outreach activities.
Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four year college degree program; six months to one year of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in admissions, counseling, public relations, student services or related area, including implementing programs and schedules, making formal presentations, and working with the public; experience with database, spreadsheet, desk top publishing and/or presentation software; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. May require conversational proficiency in a foreign language.
Conversational proficiency in at least one foreign language; experience in counseling with college-bound or college-level international student populations; willingness and ability to travel internationally and domestically; strong intercultural awareness and competence; excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills; experience with Student Information System (SIS); knowledge of international credentials and world educational systems, especially India, and familiarity with basic U.S. immigration; experience living and/or travelling abroad; familiarity with social networking tools; a master's degree in a related field. The person in this position will dedicate considerable time and effort focusing on Indian student recruitment and student success, however, prior recruitment experience in this region is not a requirement.
Required Application Materials
Standard work hours are Monday-Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; however, weekend hours and evening hours are required as needed. Travel schedule will all require variable work hours.
