The Cornell SC Johnson College of Business, launched in the academic year 2016-2017, is comprised of the university's three accredited business schools: the School of Hotel Administration, the Charles H. Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management, and the Samuel Curtis Johnson Graduate School of Management. Founded in 1922, today's School of Hotel Administration (SHA) is the World's Most Adventurous Business School. The Cornell SC Johnson College of Business currently seeks a service-oriented Associate Director of Graduate Admissions in the Office of Undergraduate and Masters Programs Admissions. The Associate Director has lead responsibility for the recruitment and yield of qualified applicants to the college's specialized professional master's degree programs and two MS/PhD programs.
Reporting to the Executive Director of Enrollment Management (EDEM), the Associate Director will coordinate strategic market planning and the execution of marketing plans for JCB's specialized professional master's programs. The position supervises an Admissions Counselor as well as co-supervises an Administrative Assistant and student workers. The incumbent will be responsible for reporting on activities and outcomes, and will have budgeting responsibility.
For specialized masters programs, a key to successful recruitment and yield is thoughtful and deliberate involvement of faculty, current students and alumni. A significant role of the Associate Director will be effectively leveraging the involvement of these constituents to benefit recruitment and yield. The Associate Director will also coordinate and prioritize the involvement of the college's marketing and communication team toward effective lead generation and nurturing activities that attract qualified applicants to apply and to accept our offers of admission.
The position requires a good deal of personal one-on-one communication with high-ability applicants and admitted students. Moreover, the Associate Director administers a student aid budget to enhance program access and yield.
The Associate Director will support a strategic planning process that addresses continuous improvement and new graduate programming in the college. The Associate Director remains up to date on relevant trends and benchmarks in graduate professional education.
The Associate Director supports the Associate Director of Admissions Operations in the review and selection process for each master's program, which includes input of faculty selection committees, faculty program directors, and a Director of Graduate Studies.
The Associate Director must be an effective communicator with many stakeholders including prospective applicants and applicants; faculty and program directors; staff peers in admissions, marketing and communications, student services and career management; school and college administration; the Cornell Graduate School, alumni and industry executives; and others.
Master's degree or equivalent
