Budget Title: Senior Staff Assistant (SL-3)
The Graduate School at Binghamton University (SUNY) seeks a customer focused, experienced professional for the position of Graduate Recruitment and Admissions Counselor, with emphasis on international student recruitment.
Reporting to the Senior Assistant Director for Graduate Recruitment and Marketing, the Graduate Recruitment and Admissions Counselor will assist the Graduate School with marketing, selecting and yielding the most promising students within domestic and international markets, thus increasing the diversity, quality, and overall enrollment for each academic program.
International and domestic recruitment
Seek out, engage, and respond to inquiries from prospective graduate students in person, by email, phone or other digital medium to personalize the admissions process.
Attend various graduate and professional school fairs, forums, conferences and receptions domestically and internationally to recruit outstanding graduate students for Binghamton University.
Participate in on-campus yield events.
Marketing and web events
Research potential markets, analyze graduate education data and trends to identify unique graduate student recruitment opportunities for Binghamton University.
Develop and manage web events (webinars, presentations, meetings, etc.) related to graduate student recruitment.
Create semi-annual reports with supporting documentation and data that show the efficacy and return on investment of various recruitment strategies.
Maintain all recruitment information in the Technolutions' Slate CRM system.
Develop and maintain relationships with domestic and international partners that facilitate BU's graduate student recruitment activities.
Additionally, the individual in this position will be expected to work collaboratively with departments, faculty, and graduate program directors to support them in recruitment and enrollment efforts.
Finally, the successful individual may supervise graduate student assistants and mentor them in time management and successfully completing assigned projects and tasks.
Possess a minimum of a bachelor's degree.
Be able and willing to travel internationally and domestically and work non-standard/varied working hours.
Demonstrate knowledge of relevant documents (e.g. I20, visas, waivers, etc) and processes required of international graduate students for entry into the United States.
Have excellent presentation, oral and written communication skills.
Be data-driven and familiar with reporting and analysis.
Have proven ability to learn and use technology, including social media and university enterprise systems (e.g. Banner, Slate)
A Master's degree in Student Affairs Administration, Higher Education, Business Administration, Marketing, Public Administration, or a related field.
Prior work experience in a higher education setting such as admissions, international education or communications/marketing environment.
Evidence of prior international travel and willingness to travel for extended periods if necessary.
Ability to speak a second language will be an asset.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple and changing priorities.
High level of initiative and goal orientation, including motivation to achieve aggressive goals.
Commitment to teamwork and strong interpersonal communication skills.
A high level of organization, attention to detail and time management skills.
Strong customer service orientation and appreciation for the needs of graduate students.
