Budget Title: Senior Staff Assistant (SL-3)
The Graduate School at Binghamton University (SUNY) seeks a customer focused, experienced professional for the position of Communications Manager and Graduate Admissions Counselor to promote the values and strengths of Binghamton University's graduate programs to prospective students.
Reporting to the Senior Assistant Director for Graduate Recruitment and Marketing, the Communications Manager and Graduate Admissions Counselor will work as part of the Graduate School recruitment team in areas such as marketing, web and social media, and recruitment to increase the yield, quality, and diversity, of graduate students at Binghamton University. The sample listing of expected tasks and activities includes, but are not limited to:
Design and develop printed and digital marketing materials and programs
Develop and implement strategic and targeted email marketing campaigns
Website and social media
Develop and implement social media recruitment strategy in coordination with Senior Assistant Director
Write, edit, and proof new content for the Graduate School website
Develop content for other web and print publications (microsites, academic department websites, student profiles, admission materials, etc.)
Research opportunities to expand and improve Graduate School web presence
Seek out, engage, and respond to inquiries from prospective graduate students in person, by email, phone or other digital medium to personalize the admissions process
Attend various graduate and professional school fairs, forums, conferences and receptions domestically to recruit outstanding graduate students for Binghamton University
Maintain all recruitment information in the Technolutions' Slate CRM system
Participate in on-campus yield events
Additionally, the individual in this position will be expected to work collaboratively with departments, faculty, and graduate program directors to support them in recruitment and enrollment efforts. Finally, the successful individual may supervise graduate student assistants and mentor them in time management and successfully completing assigned projects and tasks.
Have a minimum of a bachelor's degree in a related field
Be able and willing to travel domestically and work non-standard/varied working hours
Have excellent presentation, oral and written communication skills
Be data-driven and familiar with reporting and analysis
Have proven ability to learn and use technology, including social media and university enterprise systems (e.g. Banner, Slate)
An earned master's degree in a related field
Prior work experience in a higher education setting such as admissions, international education or a competitive communications/marketing environment is preferred
Ability to work independently and manage multiple and changing priorities
High level of initiative and goal orientation, including motivation to achieve aggressive goals
Commitment to teamwork and strong interpersonal communication skills
A high level of organization, attention to detail and time management skills
Strong customer service orientation and appreciation for the needs of graduate students
