Description: Under the supervision of the Associate Director, the Admission Counselor will assist the Office of Undergraduate Admission with recruiting, selecting, and enrolling a dynamic class of first-year students to Emerson College. This person will be expected to travel domestically for a period of up to eight weeks to visit high schools, conduct information sessions, attend college fairs, and build relationships with counselors. The Admission Counselor will also be responsible for general office duties, which include: rotating with other counselors in serving as Counselor of the Day (meet with walk-in visitors, handle phone calls, and give presentations to guests who will be going on tours), evaluating applications for admission based on the College's recruiting goals and standards, and counseling parents, applicants, and guidance counselors regarding Emerson College admission policies and procedures. The Admission Counselor will be expected to attend all admission events (open houses, accepted student events, preview days); as such, some evening and weekend work may be required.

Required Knowledge: A bachelors degreeEffective communication skills; strong interpersonal skills, practice good customer service, and should be able to manage multiple tasks and work well in groups.Familiarity with Microsoft and Macintosh operating systems.A valid drivers license and access to personal transportation for participation in events both on and off campus including some evenings and weekends.It is preferred that individuals have a valid drivers license, however, if this is not possible, individuals will be required to make their own arrangements for attendance at events requiring travel.
Preferred/Desirable Knowledge: Knowledge of Emerson College programs and services and work experience in a college or university office are preferred.

Recruitment Travel: Plan and execute approximately 7-8 weeks of fall recruitment travel for specific geographic areas as assigned. Travel activities include, but are not limited to, conducting information sessions, visiting high schools to connect with prospective students and school counselors, and attending college fairs.
Application process and review: evaluate applications for Undergraduate Admission based on the Colleges recruiting goals and standards.
General Counselor Responsibilities: Advise and counsel prospective students, school counselors, and other constituencies regarding the admission process and academic programs. The counselor will be required to attend all Open House events and serve as Counselor of the Day (assist with phone calls and/or conduct on-campus information sessions on assigned days).
Project Management: Serve as the Undergraduate Admission Office liaison for the Department of Athletics/ Womens Sports. Keep the Undergraduate Admission team informed of changes within the Department of Athletics. Provide insightful guidance to counselors to help them in their review of applications from athletic recruits.
Project Management: Assist the Associate Director of Event Planning with programming for prospective and accepted students and families. Coordinate with vendors and colleagues to ensure event details are finalized in a timely fashion.
