Under the general direction of the Assistant Director for Outreach the Public Information Coordinator / Admission Counselor will have multiple managerial, operational and functional responsibilities across the admissions operation including significant responsibilities for project coordination and leadership in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions (UGA). Additional areas of responsibility include daily oversight of the Public Information function, including the Campus Tours Program, Public Information Desk, and Southern California freshman applicant outreach.The position has a professional level of expertise in all areas of higher education recruitment, outreach, and the establishment and maintenance of intersegmental relationships in addition to evaluation for freshmen and transfer applicants, and a comprehensive knowledge of the educational processes. This expertise is acquired through experience in the position and additional training in specialized areas. The incumbent also has responsibility to design and implement initiatives for school-wide and university-wide access and opportunity for prospective students, their parents, faculty, staff and community representatives. The incumbent will plan, coordinate and administer informative and motivational programs aimed at enrolling more well-prepared and high-achieving students on campus, and will initiate community contact to further develop UC Irvine's network of individuals who proactively address the issue of educational attainment and achievement among all California residents. In addition, the Public Information Coordinator / Admission Counselor is responsible for specialized coordination duties related to special populations and projects intended to assist in the recruitment, admission and enrollment of qualified undergraduate students.
