The associate director of college counseling will be an integral member of a four person team (3 college counselors and a college counseling associate) serving an upper school enrollment of 350 students. The model of college counseling is a five year developmental platform (8-12) affording students and parents the necessary information, education, independence and autonomy to be successful within the undergraduate college admissions process. Each counselor manages approximately 30-35 students in each upper school grade level (9-12) and assumes ancillary responsibilities based on needs of the college counseling office and which will continue to establish Carrollwood Day School as a national model of college counseling excellence.
About Carrollwood Day School: CDS is a PreK-12 International Baccalaureate independent school located just north of downtown Tampa Bay, FL on a beautiful suburban campus. CDS is considered an International Baccalaureate World School and is only 1 of 17 schools in the United States authorized to offer the PYP (Primary Years Program: K-5), MYP (Middle Years Program: 6-10), and the DP (Diploma Program: 11-12) to all students enrolled from early childhood through college preparatory. A Bachelor’s degree is required and a Master’s degree is highly preferred. Undergraduate admissions experience at a selective college or university is required, as is a willingness to learn the comprehensive intricacies of becoming a college counselor. College counseling experience is a plus. The position will report to the director of college counseling. Must be willing to relocate to the greater Tampa, Florida area.
Additional Salary Information: This is a 12-month position with accorded time off during the summer months (as mandated by Human Resources policy). In addition, all official three-day, Thanksgiving (one week), winter holiday (16-18 days), and spring break (one week) time off to be part of the annual working agreement. Salary is commensurate with professional experience. Benefits per school policy include health, dental, vision, 60% tuition remission for children of faculty, and matching 401K-retirement plan.
