St. Francis School is a co-ed, non-denominational, Independent School founded in the Progressive tradition that is committed to equity and justice and located in Louisville, Ky. Our campuses are in two locations -- Goshen (Preschool-8th) and Downtown (High School). We seek a College Advisor beginning with the 2018-19 school year.
The College Advisor works with families to facilitate the college admissions, scholarship, and financial aid processes. The College Advisor also coordinates all standardized testing, including AP tests, and encourages students to take advantage of summer program opportunities. Our focus in the college admissions process is finding the right fit for each student, so the College Advisor must get to know each student personally (grades generally range in size from the upper 30s to upper 40s) in order to guide each student appropriately. In addition, the College Advisor must have a comprehensive knowledge of colleges and universities and work to develop strong relationships with college admissions personnel, in order to communicate the unique qualities of St. Francis and advocate for our students.
A bachelor’s degree is required, and a master’s degree is preferred; at least five years' experience as a high school College Advisor and/or in a college admissions office are required. An understanding of Independent Schools, strong interpersonal skills, flexibility and patience, the ability and desire to work collaboratively, outstanding oral and written communication skills, and dedication to continuously developing and practicing cultural competence are also essential. The ability to be fully immersed in the SFS community through leading or assisting with extracurricular and/or athletic activities would be a plus.
