<p>The admissions counselor will recruit students to the School of Dentistry by increasing applications to and matriculation in the three programs – Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS), Dental Hygiene and Dental Therapy by students locally, regionally, and nationally. As a key member of the Admissions Team, the admissions counselor must be enthusiastic, highly motivated, and have the ability to articulate the values and objectives of the School of Dentistry. The duties of this position will require travel, including extended overnight stays, and flexible evening and weekend hours. <br /><br />Duties - 100%<br />• Serve as a member of the Office of Admissions team<br />• Design recruitment plans for the DDS, Dental Hygiene and Dental Therapy program<br />• Plans and participates in recruitment and enrollment activities, including: open houses, regional presentations, career days, regional and national college fairs, orientation programs, etc.<br />• Develops public presentations designed to promote the School of Dentistry and the University<br />• Represent the School of Dentistry and the University to high school and college students, families, high school teachers, guidance counselors, and external stakeholders.<br />• Conduct additional recruitment outreach efforts via writing and in-person to prospective students, applicants, and admits.<br />• Serve as contact for prospective freshmen, parents, high school teachers and guidance counselors as well as provide advising and assistance throughout the admission process.<br />• Develop and implement various culturally appropriate prospective student recruitment events<br />• Coordinate events, projects and actively participate with the student organizations.</p>
<p>Required Qualifications</p><ul><li>Bachelor’s degree.</li><li>Two years of related work experience.</li><li>Demonstrated experience working with students from historically underrepresented populations and diverse communities.</li><li>Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.</li><li>Excellent organizational skills.</li><li>Excellent customer service skills</li><li>Evidence of team working skills.</li><li>Demonstrated ability to take initiative and work independently.</li><li>Must have a valid driver's license; must be able to travel locally and regionally for extended periods.</li><li>Work evenings/weekends and some holidays as needed.</li></ul><p>Preferred Qualifications</p><ul><li>Previous experience as a leader in student organizations or activities</li></ul>
