POSITION: Full-time, 12-month position starting March 5, 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter.
JOB SUMMARY: Third level Admissions Counselor responsible for recruitment of prospective students for the University of Minnesota Crookston through territory management and travel, prospective student communication, admission presentations for prospective students and families. Responsible for more complex recruitment region or category with specialized knowledge in one or more areas of admissions.
RESPONSIBILITIES: 40% of time performing lead recruitment counselor responsibilities including manage remote territory including Twin Cities metro area and suburbs, assigned community colleges (including Share My App program) experience; position will contribute and lead within the department for junior employees to go to for technical guidance; responsible for recruitment, planning and implementing a communication plan designed to encourage prospective students to apply and enroll at UMC; develop, implement, and evaluate recruiting plans; analyze and use data to guide work for continuous improvement; and represent UMC at regional fairs /events and high school/community college visits (National College Fair, National FFA Convention, Fly In Breakfast, Great Aviation Gathering, other); build relationships within high schools and community colleges throughout Minneapolis/St. Paul areas and extended areas in MN, including those individuals who coordinate grant-based programs such as “College Possible” and “Upward Bound”, other examples include multicultural excellence programs; provide information and counseling to prospective students and family members while attending recruitment events and instant decision days. Participate in on campus visit programming to include but not limited to Admitted Student Days, Campus Preview Programs, and Prospective Student Visit Days; and assist UMC offices in special services or programs designed to interact with underrepresented ethnic populations, (ESL) Veterans and coordinate contact with prospective students to assure a unified and seamless presentation of UMC programs, services and opportunities. 30% of time performing recruitment activities including maintain contact with qualified prospects through telephone, letters, e-mail, electronic media and personal contact on and off campus; integration and utilization of Salesforce for territory management and prospect to matriculation. Collect data, assess progress/results and prepare reports related to recruitment initiatives to determine effectiveness; encourage applications for admission and maintain contact with applicants with incomplete files; manage territory queue which involves application file review for first year and transfer students, and provide additional follow up contact via site visits, phone call and/or e-mail; monitor admitted student progress through financial aid, scholarship, housing, advisement and registration, and orientation processes; and ensure compliance of recruiting initiatives with UMC policies and procedures and with professional affiliations and good practices; and other duties as assigned. 15% of time responsible for inter-office coordination including manage and maintain incoming daily event attendees, troubleshoot and collaboration of events. 15% of time leading Campus Ambassadors including recruit, enlist, manage and lead the University of Minnesota Crookston (UMC) Admissions Ambassadors. Ambassadors provide tours to prospective students and their families while sharing valuable insight into the day-to-day student life experience and highlight the benefits of being at student at UMC.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: BA/BS plus at least 4 years of related experience; often the senior-most individual contributor in a department to whom other more junior employees go to for technical guidance. Final offer contingent on successful background check and receipt of official transcripts.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Excellent communication, team building, time management, leadership and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated success in customer service, business-to-business recruitment and cultivation, transcript review, experience targeting recruiting relationships, experience using CRM software; demonstrated success in creating successful recruitment relationships for non-traditional and traditional students or clients. Ability to handle stressful situations in a positive manner and evidence of experience in a team environment; experience working in a University environment; demonstrated excellence in collaboration and results driven outcomes; and ability to function effectively in a complex organizational environment with the ability to successfully relate and interact with diverse groups of people.
