Gulliver Schools, in Miami, Florida, is seeking two College and Guidance Counselors at the Preparatory (high school) campus for the 2018-2019 school year. These positions will start in August 2018. Gulliver Schools is an independent, not for profit, non-denominational, co-ed day school with four campuses from PreK3 to grade 12. At Gulliver, College and Guidance Counselors are educators responsible for counseling a diverse group of students (and their parents) in grades 9 through 12. In working with students applying to selective colleges, counselors meet with parents and guardians to discuss their children’s progress and to determine their priorities; write the school recommendation letter and monitor and review the faculty recommendations; and are involved with college programming including an annual College Fair and visits from college representatives. Counselors routinely hold workshops, seminars and programs for students and parents, and also represent the school on college campus visits as well as at relevant state and national conferences and workshops. Counselors are expected to support and attend school events that are held within and outside regular school hours. The counseling team meets regularly both informally and formally, and has a highly collaborative structure and workflow.
