Founded in 1923, Stephen F. Austin State University (SFA) is a public university located in Nacogdoches, Texas, and is one of four independent public universities in Texas. Though the university is located in the rural east Texas college town of Nacogdoches, the vast majority of SFA students come from the greater Houston or Dallas-Fort Worth areas. SFA has also served students from 46 states outside Texas and 42 countries outside the United States. SFA offers more than 120 areas of study, including more than 80 undergraduate majors, nearly 60 graduate degrees, and three doctoral programs through its six colleges and enrolls nearly 13,000 students. The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks are members of the Southland Conference and compete in Division I for all varsity sports.
Reporting to the Associate Provost for Academic Affairs, the Executive Director of Enrollment Management provides direct leadership for the offices of Admissions and the Registrar. The Executive Director will be expected to do the following:
Create and direct the strategic planning and implementation of recruiting processes consistent with the University’s strategic planning goals and efforts;
Create forecasting models to include new student enrollment initiatives and retention programs;
Effectively utilize technology to support all recruitment, communication, and enrollment programs and practices;
Collaborate with the Office of Public Affairs on new student marketing and advertising initiatives;
Collaborate with deans, directors, faculty, and staff to create and augment recruiting, marketing, and enrollment initiatives; and
Successfully hire, train, and manage a team of 50+ staff members.
The successful candidate must possess a bachelor’s degree (master’s degree preferred) and a minimum of ten years of documented progressively responsible and successful experience in the administration of recruitment, enrollment, and retention programs in higher education. Evidence of demonstrated planning, organizational, customer service, leadership, and staff supervisory skills is required. Excellent oral and written communication skills, including effective public speaking and presentation skills, and the ability to take initiative, exercise sound judgment, and handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment will be expected of the Executive Director. Evidence of strong data, analytical, and problem solving skills; an ability to think strategically; and demonstrated experience building collaborative relationships across campus and working with diverse groups of individuals while successfully supporting and managing a team will be required. Knowledge of the Banner integrated student information system and innovative technologies for recruitment and admission will also be expected of the Executive Director.
