The Office of Admissions at Iowa State University is seeking applications for a Coordinator of International Recruitment to attract, recruit and enroll prospective domestic and international undergraduate students to the university by utilizing a variety of methods including visiting domestic and international high schools and community colleges, marketing college transfer articulation processes, attending college fairs, conducting enrollment presentations, and coordinating and assisting with on- and off-campus recruitment programs. This position will communicate daily with prospective students and families, high school and community college counselors, and international education agencies to build relationships with Iowa State University, as well as assist with New Student Programs activities, including Orientation programs and Destination Iowa State.
The Coordinator will lead and assist with the development of the international undergraduate communication, marketing and yield plans and strategies; assist in the creation of a strategic recruitment plan that identifies the appropriate target markets for international undergraduate recruitment and outreach; research and evaluate market trends in student mobility and higher education access across the globe; supervise a Senior International Admissions Counselor; conduct credential review and admission evaluation of international undergraduate application materials; assist in the coordination of admissions operations, including admitting and denying students, drafting letters, and coordinating the issuance of government related documents with the International Students and Scholars Office; and contribute to the development and modification of unconditional and conditional admission policies and processes. This position will serve as leader of the International Student Ambassadors and as a liaison with current students, international alumni and international student clubs.
The successful candidate will have the ability to travel extensively within the United States and overseas for extended periods of time (4 or 5 overseas recruitment trips per year of 1-2 weeks duration); a willingness to work early mornings, late evenings, weekend hours and extended hours as necessary throughout the year; work as a team member in a fast paced, changing workplace; communicate with a wide variety of individuals on and off campus; and have the ability to obtain a valid driver’s license and passport. Some travel visas and immunizations will be required for specific countries. The successful candidate will also possess strong written and oral communication skills (including public speaking skills).
