The Associate Director for Outreach and Recruitment designs and develops strategy for the recruitment and admission of diverse and distinct student populations. Reporting to the Director of Transfer, Online and International Initiatives, this position supervises a team charged with successfully executing data-driven strategies to achieve the operational objectives necessary to meeting the institution’s targeted enrollment goals. The associate director position serves in a key leadership role in managing recruitment staff in Undergraduate Admissions. 1. Leads University recruitment and admission efforts directed toward specific student groups, such as non-degree, dual enrollment, freshman, transfer, international and eCampus students. Uses data to design and implement unique recruitment and yield strategies for students in distinct groups through each stage in the student lifecycle. Collaborates with colleagues within office and across campus to enact strategy and assess effectiveness of initiatives. Maintains strong relationships with key external counterparts and stakeholders through regular communication including management of advisory board. Analyzes landscape to craft narratives and reports that advise senior leadership on recommendations for strategic direction. 2. Guides staff in execution of operational goals in a territory and student group management model. Manages the strategy and logistics of recruitment and yield travel, utilizing creative and innovative approaches to maximize effectiveness of limited resources. Prioritizes the fulfillment of student inquiries through leveraging people and technology resources such as the office’s powerful constituent relationship management tool. Serves as manager and leader of file review of targeted student populations, ensuring equitable and ethical consideration of all candidates and consistent and timely admission decisions to all applicants. 3. Provides leadership to a team of recruitment staff. Participates in the day-to-day management of Undergraduate Admissions’ engagement with prospective students through monitoring of timely inquiry fulfillment, customer service and management of daily office coverage responsibilities. Collaborates with colleagues in Undergraduate Admissions to coordinate with Undergraduate Admissions leadership to design and support dynamic visit programs and campus events. Trains staff on best practices and external regulations related to the field. Meets regularly with team to review plans for effective use of resources and data in determining overall strategies and practices. Forecasts and monitors staff budgetary expenditures.
Master’s degree required. 3-5 years of work related experience and 1-2 years of supervisory or managerial experience required. Must hold valid driver’s license, passport and ability to travel independently overnight. Background check and university judiciary review required, in addition to regular driving history audits. A history of utilizing dynamic tactics to implement data-driven decisions in an enrollment management environment. Experience in Technolutions Slate or similar CRM system. Must possess knowledge of and abide by the Statements and Principles of Good Practice of the National Association for College Admission Counseling. Ability to maintain knowledge in a specific field(s) such as institutional and state transfer policy or global education systems and credentials. Ability to develop comprehensive recruitment strategies that leverage the entire portfolio of University administrative and academic resources, including students, staff and faculty. He / she must be able to facilitate collaboration with professionalism, diplomacy and tact.
