| Essential Functions: JOB PURPOSELeads university-wide efforts to provide dynamic events to prospective and admitted students to help with efforts to increase the yield of prospective students. Serves as the lead coordinator of major undergraduate admissions events including; Open House, Admitted Student Day, Summer Visit programs and other yield related admissions events. Manages the Campus Visit and Student Ambassador program, including supervision of Campus Tour Coordinator. This includes determining the focus, content, communications and logistics of these events to target prospective and new students and provide a positive and rewarding experience. The Associate Director may manage recruitment staff, admissions counselors or contract recruiters. Evening and weekend work is required. Attendance at campus functions is required. Some overnight travel is required. The position reports to the Director for Undergraduate Admissions.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSStrategically determine the focus and content of new student events (Open House, Admitted Student Day, Summer Visit programs and other related admissions events) to optimize the return on investment, yield and effectiveness of each event.Manage the Campus Visit program, including supervision of Campus Visit Coordinator and providing support for the supervision, hiring and training of Warrior Guides. Direct the planning and implementation of daily campus visits, tours and meetings for prospective and admitted students as well as groups. Assess and continuously improve the visit experience for all admissions visitors to campus. Develop and lead a team of Student Ambassadors responsible for supporting admissions recruitment by successfully representing and promoting Wayne State University to prospective students, their families and guests at high school visits, community and campus events. Coordinate the logistics of each event including, but not limited to; participants in the event, presenters or speakers at the event, additional staff required to operate the event, facilities for the event, transportation to and from the event, and procurement of required materials for the event.Manage direct reports that will help with the coordination, logistics and communication of the various events. Oversee and supervise staff. Will recruit, hire, train, direct daily activities, discipline and develop the staff to ensure accurate and timely customer service and service delivery. Ensure transactions for all academic and non-academic personnel within the assigned units are performed in compliance with University policy and procedure. Work closely with marketing to determine marketing and communication of events to prospective and new students and parents prior to the event, during the event, and after the event. These communications can include, but are not limited to; emails, phone calls, brochures, letters, programs, parent handbook, avenues for event promotion including the web, billboards, and video and television and other miscellaneous communication to new students. Responsible for the oversight, development and implementation of communications to prospective and admitted students related to undergraduate admissions.|
Qualifications: Collaborate with campus offices and departments to plan their involvement in Orientation sessions and other admissions events, including but not limited to Academic Advising, Academic Success Center, Student Service Center, Registrar, Financial Aid, Student Accounts Receivable, and any necessary Student life units and academic departments. Works with the Director of Undergraduate Admissions and the Senior Leadership team to create a comprehensive outreach and recruitment strategy for designated territories. Responsible for locating, training and coordinating the outreach activities of territory-based contract recruiters. Prepares ROI, yield, and effectiveness data and analyses and presents this information to senior management. Also manages and maintains the event budget. Responsible for understanding, interpreting, formulating, and evaluating policies and procedures related to the various events for new students, including orientation.Other duties as assigned. Work is performed under general supervision and performance is based upon completion of assignments and results obtained.EDUCATIONBachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Master's degree in Education, Marketing, Business, Finance or Student Counseling preferred.EXPERIENCE3 to 5 years of work experience in university admissions, recruiting, enrollment management, human resources, and/or marketing. Excellent presentation skills. Must have the ability to multi-task and work under pressure. Experience managing and coordinating large events. Experience creating relevant reports to management that can be used to develop future strategies for events. Demonstrated ability to use databases including Banner and CRM systems.
