PRIMARY PURPOSE/GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
This position reports to the Director of Admission. Admission recruitment, outreach and applications review are all significant functions of this position. May include management of student workers. Program coordination responsibilities include organization of certain programs for prospective students.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Represent the College both on and off-campus to prospective students, parents, secondary school counselors, and other individuals or organizations involved in the college selection process.
- Plan and implement recruitment activities for assigned high schools and territories, including 3-8 weeks of travel.
- Counsel prospective applicants on the admission process and opportunities at Scripps College through information sessions, in-person appointments, phone calls, college fairs, high school visits, and emails.
- Review applications submitted by applicants for admission decisions.
- Collaborate with a wide variety of departments and office across campus.
- Support the office’s social media presence, possibly taking a lead role in this area.
- Work closely with student volunteers and support the management of student employees.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, participating in professional organizations.
- Active support for the College’s Principles of Community and Principles of Diversity in the performance of job duties.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
Individual must possess knowledge, skills, and ability to be able to successfully perform the essential functions of the position.
- Ability to independently perform complex tasks and to prioritize multiple projects;
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills including editorial and proofreading skills, strong command of the English language (grammar and spelling);
- Strong analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail;
- Ability to foster a collaborative and cooperative work environment;
- Strong attention to detail in all areas of responsibility;
- Exercises discretion and good judgment at all times;
- Willingness to see tasks to completion, sometimes necessitating working longer than normal hours or on weekends;
- Excellent computer skills with proficiency /expertise in Microsoft Office Suite including applications of Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, e-mail and internet research;
- Strong social media skills across multiple platforms;
- Willingness to be flexible and take initiative, as needed;
- Ability to travel;
- Understanding of the mission of a liberal arts college
The regular hours for this full-time position are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday-Friday.
Hours may vary and include night and weekends based on needs of the College or
CLASSIFICATION AND STATUS:
This is a regular, full-time, 12-month, exempt, benefits-eligible position.
May supervise student workers and/or student volunteers.
