Interlochen Center for the Arts, one of America’s most prestigious institutions for arts education, performance and fine arts presentations seeks to hire an Admission Counselor. This position is a career opportunity to use a broad-based knowledge of the specialized program while acting as an arts advocate at one of the nation’s premier arts education centers. The Office of Admission & Financial Aid enrolls more than 3,000 qualified elementary through high school-age students from more than 50 countries each year across numerous artistic disciplines and study sessions for Interlochen Arts Camp and also enrolls 500 high school-age students for Interlochen Arts Academy.
Major responsibilities include the following:
Provide excellent customer service while serving as the first point of contact for prospective students and families for assigned Interlochen education programs.
Works well with others and a team player.
Cultivate relationships with prospective student families, using the phone, email, and face to face.
Identifying prospective IAA students in a large inquiry pool who are talented enough and interested enough to be recruited extensively.
Working with Salesforce/ERx.
Helping steer families towards the right program fit.
Some travel to assist in recruitment efforts for maximizing enrollment.
Responsible for communication with families concerning the admission process for both Interlochen Arts Academy and Arts Camp.
Includes but not limited to:
Meeting with families to discuss programs and process
Ability to discuss sensitive student and family concerns in a confidential manner
Presenting and discussing the value of an Interlochen education
Navigating complex applicant scenarios
Appreciation for the arts
Excellent customer service and communication skills
Desired but not required, previous Admission experience, significant artistic involvement & degree in an artistic discipline
