The Admissions Officer in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions will be responsible for conducting recruiting and application review for freshman and transfer admission to the Krieger School of Arts and Sciences and the Whiting School of Engineering. These activities will involve travel and public speaking. The Admissions Officer will be responsible for the recruitment and evaluation of applications from a specified regional territory. Will be responsible for some projects across the office which may include working with student volunteer groups. Will also be responsible for supporting roles in larger projects that work towards office priorities.
Essential Job Functions:
The Admissions Officer will be responsible for conducting recruitment and application review for an assigned region, will serve as the primary recruiter and reader for all applications from that region, and will conduct high school presentations and regional presentations there regularly. Conduct daily information sessions and respond to routine requests from prospective applicants. Recruitment planning for a designated geographic region(s). Conduct high school visits, events and other meetings with various constituent groups. Eight to ten weeks of travel and evening/weekend work required, including nights and weekends and conducting off-campus university events and high school visits for prospective students, families and high school guidance/college counselors. Review and evaluate applications. Leverage basic data analysis to manage decisions in a designated region(s) or area of study. Manage internal and external relationships: Faculty, counselors, prospective students and families, current students, university administrators, high school counselors, alumni. Must be service and team oriented and aware of the needs and concerns of a selective private university. The Admissions Officer will have other responsibilities, to be determined around a specific project or program area. These responsibilities could include conducting on-campus interviews (including hiring and training student volunteers); serving as the primary contact for specific academic areas or programs, and/or offices across the university, including application selection and yield programs within those areas or programs.
Education: Bachelor's degree required.
Experience: One year related experience required. Experience as a college or university admissions officer preferred, which would include recruiting travel and applications review.

Analytical ability. communications skills (speaking and writing), positive attitude, ability to represent effectively Johns Hopkins University to prospective students, parents and secondary' school counselors. Must be proactive. team oriented and a strong critical thinker and problem solver.
Position requires the ability to communicate effectively with prospective students, parents, secondaty school counselors, faculty and other university partners as well as the ability to represent Johns Hopkins University to the public. Knowledge of standard office software applications. including Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook.
Ability to travel extensively and work nights and weekends as needed. Must have valid driver's license and be able to drive car.
