Hargrave Military Academy seeks a dynamic and strategic leader for the position of Director of Admissions to oversee admissions and enrollment operations. This position reports to the President as a member of the senior administrative team. The Director will be someone who embraces the school’s mission, values, and history with the ability to effectively communicate them to prospective parents and students. He or she must bring energy, creativity, a positive attitude, and integrity to the position.
The Director must be able to present the Academy to prospective students and parents, which includes systematic and efficient handling of applications and communication with candidates and their parents; interviews with candidates and their parents; conducting campus tours; marking arrangements for admissions testing, if required; securing of necessary student credentials; and communicating final decisions to the administrative team at Hargrave. He or she will oversee the creation of the admissions budget, appropriate admissions and marketing materials, mailings and publications, and Student Ambassador program. He or she will also supervise a staff that consists of Admissions Counselors, an Administrative Assistant, and the Director of Marketing and Communication.
Candidates will continually evaluate and redesign, where appropriate, all aspects of the admissions and marketing program with the goal of maintaining a capacity enrollment of qualified students. He or she will oversee the network of parents, former parents and alumni to assist in the admissions program; have the ability to make data driven decisions based on relevant admissions statistics and trends; make recommendations for financial aid; and will represent the Academy to continually advance the Hargrave brand and reputation.
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree or further is a plus).
Three to five years experience in admissions or marketing with a proven record of success.
An understanding of best practices in independent school enrollment.
Experience in independent schools.
Familiarity with boarding school culture.
The ability to execute a strategic approach to the admissions process.
Excellent writing and public speaking skills.
Proven ability to communicate effectively through a variety of mediums to diverse stakeholders.
Knowledge of the military school marketplace will be a plus.
