The Director of Admissions and Upper School Admissions Counselor will coach, lead, and support Westminster’s team of Admissions Counselors in the the overall admissions process. This individual will manage the activities and processes of the Admission Office to ensure exceptional marketing, to create authentic opportunities for right-fit families, and to maintain high demand and yields that result in full enrollment. The Director of Admissions will work to ensure strong partnerships with other Westminster departments, such as Marketing and Communications and the various academic divisions, to help the Office Of Admissions to support the mission of the department and the school.
As Upper School Admissions Counselor, the Director will serve as the primary contact for and manage the application process of students and their families to grades 9-12.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Director of Lower School Admissions & Middle School Admissions Counselor
Position Status: This position is a salaried, exempt, full-time, regular, 12-month position.
Hours of Work: Standard work week. Evening and weekend work will be required.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITY: Director of Admissions
Lead the Admissions Application Process, including oversight and management of the annual calendar, the staffing and marketing plan, assessment tools, committee decision-making process, and the notification process. Collect and process feedback data; conduct analysis for continuous process improvement.
Serve as as liaison to the Marketing and Communications Department including oversight, coordination, and management of marketing materials research and design, applicant messaging campaign, website updates related to Admission, and messaging strategies for internal and external partners.
Coach and lead Division Admissions Counselors including oversight of meeting agendas, recommendation of policy changes, providing backup for family visits/ tours, assisting with parent meetings, assisting with testing and training, and providing follow-up with families.
Serve as the schoolwide Admissions Liaison; conduct admissions overview sessions with faculty & staff; train readers and committee members.
Manage the Admissions Committees and related decision-making process, including planning and coordinating of on-campus evaluations and interviews (including faculty assignments), reviewing and refining the decision process, and ensuring balanced decisions for all school constituents.
Provide strategic oversight and support for external admissions events and fairs
Support onboarding activities including the coordination of data flow within and between the Admissions Department and other areas/departments, and the supervision and planning of schoolwide onboarding activities. Develop and implement policy and process for online record retention.
Perform other duties as assigned
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITY: Upper School Admissions Counselor
Manage & Distribute Marketing Materials - partner with Marketing and Communications to review, refine, and prepare brochures and materials for parent and applicant use.
Represent the school at external admissions events and fairs
Remain current with admissions trends by attending professional meetings and events
Serve as liaison to the Upper School, including attending faculty meetings, meeting with students, attending student performances and activities, interfacing with the Upper School faculty, and serving as a liaison to Middle and Upper School applicants and their families around athletics.
Oversee onsite programs and events, including planning and coordinating open houses, parent information sessions, and shadow visits for applicants. Assist with the planning and delivery of events for specialty groups.
Manage Upper School Students to envision, plan, and execute an authentic leadership experience in support of the Admissions Office.
Communicate with Applicant Families, including conducting pre- and post-decision parent meetings.
Provide oversight of testing, interviews, required documentation, teacher evaluations, and other requirements in support of the decision-making process; ensure ongoing evaluation and refinement of the assessment process
Manage and support the Upper School Admissions Committee, including preparing, assigning, and training the committee to read admissions files and to review and communicate admissions decisions.
Oversee and manage a supportive onboarding process for new students and parents.
Minimum of seven years experience in admissions and/or marketing with a proven record of success
Minimum of three years’ experience coaching, leading, and motivating a team of high-performing members; ability to delegate strategically and effectively
Experience in a competitive independent school market at a school with a high admissions yield
Proven problem solving and process refinement skills in an admissions office setting
Proven strategic and operational skills - a holistic leadership approach
Excellent communication skills, both written & spoken, across a variety of platforms; ability to represent the school with professionalism and enthusiasm to a broad constituency
Team player with a positive attitude, proactive approach, and a customer-service mindset
Disciplined, results-oriented self-starter who can work both independently and collaboratively in a fluid environment
Growth mindset; seeks ways to foster self-development and growth, both personally and for those under your supervision

High degree of competency with MS Office, Google G Suite, relational databases, and associated application software systems

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle and feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl; talk and hear; engage in moderately strenuous physical activity both indoors and out; and smell. The employee may occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions and may frequently walk on slippery or uneven surfaces.
Travel is primarily local during the regular business day. Overnight and out-of-area travel may also be required for conferences and other professional development opportunities.
