The Admissions Counselor serves as a member of the Admissions team, focusing on recruiting prospective students in support of the College’s enrollment management plan. The Admissions Counselor represents Penn College, both on and off campus, to prospective students, parents, secondary school counselors and other individuals and organizations involved in the college selection process. The individual will be responsible for developing and executing effective recruitment strategies for assigned geographic and academic territories. Frequent travel in or out of the state is required during peak recruitment periods.
Minimum education and experience includes a bachelor’s degree and experience in college admissions preferred, or related professional experience in marketing/sales.
Minimum abilities and skills include developed organizational skills; interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively and courteously with prospective students, parents, high school personnel, College staff and the public; possession of a valid driver’s license; sensitivity to the expectations of students, parents, and staff; ability to work in a fast-paced environment; ability to adapt to changing assignments and multiple priorities; ability to work both collaboratively and independently; ability to build strong working relationships with diverse groups; evidence of strong written communication and presentation skills; ability to make decisions and exercise independent judgment in a time-sensitive environment; solid technical skills including Microsoft Office; ability to manage multiple tasks and successfully meet deadlines; evidence of a strong customer-service orientation; and ability to conduct admissions activities with the highest level of integrity.
