The Assistant Director of New Media will lead the Enrollment Division's efforts in maintaining and expanding its social media presence. This position has primary responsibility for enhancing the University of Notre Dame's digital recruitment efforts including, but not limited to, networks such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, and SnapChat. In addition, this individual will be tasked with strengthening the University's presence on college search sites. The Assistant Director of New Media will supervise and mentor a staff of student employees hired to blog, produce videos, design graphics, and participate in social networking, live webcasts, and chat activities. The individual will monitor and manage online communities of prospective and admitted students through a variety of social networking platforms and evaluate and design marketing strategies to fully utilize emerging technologies to positively impact the University's enrollment goals. Furthermore, this individual will act as producer and host for live on-air/online events presented by the Enrollment Division. Further develops, manages, and executes social media strategies for the Enrollment Division with a focus on delivering a holistic social media presence for the University. Serves as the Enrollment Division's voice on social media accounts including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, and SnapChat. In addition, enhances the University's presence on various college search websites. Provides timely updates and responses and highlights stories and messages in support of the University's enrollment goals.
Trains and supervises a team of student employees to monitor and share appropriate messaging to prospective and admitted students, parents, guidance counselors, and other influencers of the college search process. Meets on a regular basis with student team to provide direction, problem solve, and brainstorming creative messaging and approaches.
Manages live webcast production from end-to-end including oversight for email communications sent to prospective and admitted students. Responsibilities include scheduling events, preparing calls and guests, writing and editing content for email communications and broadcast materials, building emails in the CRM system, coordinating with Shared Services to pull appropriate data, approval, scheduling, tracking, and analytics.
Collaborates with colleagues in pre-college, early engagement, admissions, and student financial services to create digital content and an integrated social media presence that increases the University's recruitment funnel. Works with the Content Specialist to build campaigns for selected audiences to be distributed through college search sites. Monitors and reports on the efficacy of the campaigns.
Monitors, evaluates, and provides analytical reports on social media activity and conversation around Notre Dame and the Enrollment Division, including pre-college, early engagement, admissions, and student financial services. Makes recommendations for messaging and strategic targeted content and responses. Fully understands the University's policies and procedures related to social media and web presence and monitors accounts for misuse.
Minimum Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree (4 years) • 3-4 years relevant work experience in developing and managing social media programs and campaigns in either a higher education or corporate environment • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Knowledge and understanding of social media metrics and tracking software
Preferred Qualifications: • Higher education work experience, especially in recruitment, admissions, student affairs, or similar area • Graphic design and video production skills and experience Finalists will be asked to submit and present an analysis of the Enrollment Division’s current social media efforts and a two-week social media communication plan.
