The Transfer and Re-Admission Counselor position works cooperatively with the International Admissions Counselor currently on staff and is responsible for recruiting domestic transfer and readmission students to the institution.

Support new transfer student recruitment to meet institutional enrollment objectives, from the prospecting and inquiry development stage, through the application for admission and financial aid counseling and processing stages, to deposit confirmation and student enrollment. Review and conduct first-reads on assigned domestic transfer and readmission files and recommend applicant acceptance or denial for admission to the University. Conduct admission interviews with candidates both on- and off-campus, work with Registrar’s Office personnel on college transcript evaluation and with Advising Office personnel to ensure completion of degree plans and student registration. Will plan and implement travel to selected, two-year colleges to develop referral networks and to assist in further developing articulation agreements with two-year schools. Responsibility for select on- and off-campus recruitment programming. Responsibilities also include extensive telephone and electronic communication follow-up with prospective domestic transfer and readmission students, individually assigned student worker supervision, possible publication/promotional material development, and planning and coordinating transfer student orientation days. Participate in all scheduled admissions events on campus, from Discover Days, to Academic Scholarship Competition Days, to SOAR (Saints Orientation and Registration) Days, to Arts Scholarship Days, to Campus Ministry Scholar Days, SHO (Siena Heights Orientation) Days, to New Student Check-In/Move-In Days, as well as all rotating, Saturday morning office assignments. Develop proficiency with the Liaison EMP in the Office of Admissions and the University-wide computer operating system to maximize student recruiting potential. Provide effective follow-up to prospective students throughout the recruiting process via phone calls, emails, text messaging, social media, letter correspondence, and hand-written notes. Generate weekly enrollment/transfer projection reports, maintain travel records, file travel expense reports, and access available data to inform effective recruiting efforts and results. Participate in admissions-related conferences and professional development opportunities. Other duties within scope of department’s responsibilities as defined by supervisor.
This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university. The ideal candidate will be a strong advocate of and articulate spokesperson for the value of a Liberal Arts education offered within a faith-based institution. Previous experience in college admissions, higher education, secondary education, or similar field. Demonstrated self-initiative and skill in cooperative work with other staff. Excellent organizational and planning skills with attention to detail. Strong relationship-building skills with both internal and external constituents. Experience and personality to support the Director of Undergraduate Admissions in developing and implementing initiatives that will continue to enhance the University’s visibility and reputation as a strong college choice for traditional, as well as non-traditional, transfer students. Desirable personal qualities include an interest in people, a collaborative style, a sense of humor, personal energy, optimism, resilience, and a willingness to work until the job is completed. Evening and weekend hours and travel will be required. Ability to work effectively in a team environment. Proficient with computer skills and software utilization.
