DIRECTOR OF THE EDUCATIONAL COUNCIL , Admissions Office , to provide oversight and management of the MIT Educational Council, an organization of over 5,000 alumni volunteers who serve MIT's admissions process by providing outreach to students and high schools and interviewing applicants. Will read and evaluate applications, serve on the admissions committee, and participate in other parts of the admissions process; recruit and train new educational counselors (ECs); provide ongoing training and feedback to all ECs and communicate regularly with the group; manage one admissions counselor and one support staff member; oversee the Educational Council budget; and work closely with (and report to) the director of admissions to develop an awareness of the current high school admissions marketplace and communicate the annual goals of the Admissions Office to council members.
REQUIRED : a bachelor's degree, preferably from MIT; five years of work experience, preferably in admissions or higher education; an understanding of and appreciation for MIT's mission and culture; excellent interpersonal, organizational, written communication, and presentation skills; ability to delegate and work through others to meet goals; flexibility; and a valid driver's license.
