Reporting to the Dean of Admissions, the Admissions Counselor plays an important role in assisting the Admissions Office with the execution of recruitment, enrollment, and communication strategies for Mitchell Hamline School of Law. This position assumes a high degree of responsibility for planning and executing prospective and admitted student events to enhance student applications and yields. Additionally, this position will counsel prospective students on law school admissions, legal education, and the School’s academic programs and resources. As a member of the Admissions Committee, the person develops and cultivates relationships with admitted students, reviews applications, makes admissions recommendations, and provides applicant information to the Committee.
Qualifications: bachelor’s degree; 1-3 years experience in higher education admissions highly preferred; law school or graduate school admissions, or marketing experience preferred (may consider combination of education and experience); must be willing and able to travel locally, regionally, and nationally; high degree of professionalism and ability to work with confidential and sensitive information; highly organized and attentive to detail; superior and effective communication skills including strong writing ability and effective public speaking skills; ability to develop collaborative working relationships with all individuals; skilled in event planning; responsive, with a customer service orientation, and a strong commitment to providing excellent student service; and ability to work independently and as a member of the admissions team.
