Chief Program Officer –
High School and College Programs
SCS Noonan Scholars
SCS Noonan Scholars, a nonprofit organization, seeks a dynamic and visionary Chief Program Officer – High School and College Programs (CPO–HS&CP) to lead the delivery of its programming in support of students during a time of national growth and expansion. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced, collaborative leader and manager to develop and implement the supports needed for students in all stages of the SCS Noonan Scholars program. The candidate may be based in the organization’s Boston or Los Angeles office, depending on the hired candidate’s preference.
Since its founding as South Central Scholars (SCS) in 2001 by philanthropists James and Patricia London, originally as a scholarship program serving a few high-achieving low-income students in the Los Angeles area, SCS Noonan Scholars has grown to serve students in Los Angeles and Boston, and now seeks to expand nationally. The mission of SCS Noonan Scholars is for high-achieving, low-income, underrepresented students to get into and graduate from top colleges equipped to reach their full career potential. SCS Noonan Scholars accomplishes this mission through a holistic program of supports, designed with two specific goals in mind. First, to ensure that more students of color from low-income families attend top colleges, through comprehensive college guidance focused on placing Scholars in the right colleges and accompanying skill sets to excel in the major of their choice. Second, to encourage students will graduate with the degree, skills, and experiences they need to succeed, through participation in the Summer Academy, case management, mentorship, career development activities, and an internship and job network, designed to prepare students to excel throughout college and into the workforce.
In its next CPO–HS&CP, SCS Noonan Scholars seeks a visionary, strategic and forward-thinking leader who is a skilled project and people manager, a strong operational and tactical leader, adept at facilitating the growth of a burgeoning national organization, and a passionate innovator and entrepreneur who embraces the mission and values of the organization. The CPO–HS&CP will foster an organization and environment that values diversity, inclusion, and equity, while developing, motivating, inspiring, and supporting staff. The CPO–HS&CP will provide leadership and vision, and contribute to emerging national identity of SCS Noonan Scholars, while acting as a tactical manager who can operationalize, systematize, and manage offices across a national organization. This individual will lead national growth and expansion of the organization, including expanded program design and delivery, and forge and develop connections and relationships with colleges, universities, and other organizations that further the goals of SCS Noonan Scholars.
