Participate as an active member of the PLNU Adult Degree Completion (ADC) Admissions team to engage prospective students on community college campuses in San Diego, with the goal of recruiting students to the university. This includes the responsibility to meet or exceed assigned enrollment goals.
Understand and convey PLNU’s distinctive and mission, and develop a thorough and functional knowledge of the College of Extended Learning programs in order to represent them to prospective students.
Manage all aspects of ADC student recruitment including lead/inquiry development, lead/inquiry handling, pre-admissions advising, transcript evaluations, applicant counseling, acceptance processing and enrollment with proactive, timely follow-up with the prospective student at every stage. Follow-up with prospective students through personal visits, phone conversations, voicemail and email until the enrollment process is complete and the student is enrolled in class.
Evaluate applications for admission according to program criteria. Maintain consistent records and current status reports for each prospective student, using established resources and guidelines including the admissions CRM to track prospective students through the application and admissions processes.
In partnership with supervisor and the Director of Communication & Events, oversee the planning, coordinating, communication and execution of all student-focused events at assigned community college campuses or other locations, including: information sessions, classroom visits, community college events, outreach events, and new student orientations to promote PLNU programs.
Maintain good relations with the deans, faculty members and upper administration at the community colleges.
Serve as a liaison and ambassador between the community college campuses and the College of Extended Learning to further the mission and brand of PLNU.
Schedule classrooms for the time and day classes will be meeting at the community college and support PLNU faculty with classroom logistics as needed.
Provide updates on a regular basis to supervisor and other members of the enrollment leadership team on the status of applicants, status of recruiting efforts, and semester forecasting to determine the need and/or viability of cohort starts.
Work occasional evenings and weekends as needed for participation in events or other projects.
Other related responsibilities as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in marketing or communication.
Minimum two years related sales or marketing experience. Experience working in a higher education environment preferred in new student recruitment, marketing and/or admissions.
Must be highly motivated with a high level of enthusiasm for promoting new and expanding academic programs to prospective students.
Understanding of and commitment to the spiritual mission of the university.
Commitment to a high-level performance culture to help ensure the admissions goals of the university.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, including public speaking skills.
Ability to maintain a sensitivity to diversity while working with our student population.
Must possess strong attention to detail and time management skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to accomplish tasks under pressure of deadlines.
Strong computer skills to support the communication efforts.
Ability to exercise interpersonal skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with peers, external contacts, faculty and staff across all levels of the institution.
Must be able to work evenings and/or weekends, if needed, and have reliable transportation to work from remote locations.
Understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities for communicating to prospective university students and other key influencers in the college decision-making process.
The work is primarily sedentary and may require sitting for extended periods of time. Use of computer equipment: computer keyboard, mouse, and monitor. Vision to read documents, e-mail and other correspondence, and reports on paper and computer monitor. Hearing and speaking to communicate effectively with others in person and by phone. Will also stand, stoop, push, pull, and lift up to 25 lbs throughout the day. Able to drive from one location to another. ?
