The College Counselor will work with the administrative team for the overall well-being of the college counseling office and the school. Primary job responsibilities include working with the senior class, guiding them through the college search, application and financial aid process. The College Counselor will monitor, improve and implement a four-year college counseling program; educating freshman, sophomore and junior students and parents for a successful college application process their senior year.

General job responsibilities:
Establish counseling relationships with Pacifica students across a four year period
Guide seniors and juniors though the college counseling process
Preparing and keeping the college counseling yearly calendar.
Utilizing Naviance as the central tool in the college counseling process.
Preparing the school’s annual report
Sending students’ transcripts, the school report, and recommendations to colleges.
Organizing, promoting and leading college day trips.
Promoting and educating students and parents about testing (PSAT, SAT, ACT, Subject Tests) and test preparation. Working with the school’s test prep partner.
Developing and expanding relationships with college admissions officers.
Planning and conducting college information nights for students and their parents.
Coordinate workshops to instruct students how to write college essays and apply for financial aid.
Write letters of recommendations for all seniors
Conducting a summer workshop focussing on college essay writing
Attending workshops, conferences and forums regarding college admission and counseling
Facilitate Cal Grant grade verification
Submit ELC transcripts to the UC
Keeping accurate and up-to-date records

Maintain appointment calendar through Time Trade
Schedule calls and meetings through RepVisits for admissions counselors
Host visits for college admissions counselors throughout the school year
Contact students and parents to check in with them and provide task updates
Create email communication for all college counseling events/opportunities
Book off-campus college tours and participate in driving/chaperoning
Create workshops and panel opportunities for students, parents, and teachers
Create, maintain, and complete student files and records on Naviance
Effectively pull college matriculation data reports from Naviance
Conduct research to create up-to-date informational packets for parents and faculty
Ensure college handbook is up-to-date
Assist with basic marketing for the college counseling department
Support the Principal as a member of the graduation team by focussing on student speeches.
