Gustavus Adolphus College invites applications for two full-time Admission Counselors the Admission Office.
Gustavus Adolphus College is a private liberal arts college in Saint Peter, Minn., that prepares over 2,200 undergraduates for lives of leadership, service, and lifelong learning. Fully accredited and known for its strong science, writing, music, athletics, study-away, and service-learning programs, Gustavus hosts a chapter of Phi Beta Kappa and is internationally recognized for its annual Nobel Conference.
This exciting opportunity is a position that serves as a professional member of the Admission Office. The Admission Counselor will assist in the recruitment and selection of new students for the College.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Travel by car and plane to secondary schools to meetwith prospective students and school counselors.
Develop a travel schedule and make detailed arrangements for the assigned travel territory.
Actively participate in college fairs (day, evening and weekend) as part of the recruitment effort.
Meet and interview students and parents who visit the campus throughout the year.
Recruit students through personal contact via phone calls, text messages and emails. Phone calls and emails are generally initiated by the counselor and designed to keep in contact with interested students in a recruiting area.
Actively focus on recruiting a diverse student body.
Assist with campus visit events, which includes: program development, advertisement, resource coordination and securing the assistance of faculty, current students, coaches, and directors.
Work with the Financial Aid Office to guide prospective students and families through the college financial aid process in both large and small group settings.
Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in related field.
Demonstrates effective communication with students and parents through verbal and written communication.
Develop and maintain working relationships with students and parents.
Experience working with diverse populations.
Experience with college admission as either a student tour guide or admission professional.
Familiarity with liberal arts education within a residential setting
Fluency in a second language (Hmong or Spanish) is highly desirable.
