Saint Mary’s College seeks a full-time admission counselor responsible for the coordination of recruitment and admission efforts for prospective undergraduate students. Successful candidate will be responsible for representing the College at high school visits, as well as other college day/night events, and contacting and meeting prospective students, reviewing applications and serving as a member of the admission committee. Counselor may occasionally give campus tours and/or work on marketing efforts through the Office of Admission. This person will focus on multicultural recruitment. Responsibilities include:
Manage the recruitment and admission of first year students to the College.
Manage multicultural recruitment for the office
Manage a targeted communication and marketing plan to all students from underrepresented populations.
Coordinate with the SMART manager to manage Multicultural SMART program of alumnae around the country.
Manage an assigned geographic territories including contacting prospective and accepted students and traveling to selected geographic areas.
Recruit diverse and academically talented students while serving as the College liaison for prospective students from initial inquiry to enrolled status.
Meet with and counsel prospective students to enhance their level of interest in the College and to evaluate their academic readiness for the rigors of a Saint Mary’s education.
Evaluate application credentials and recommend admission decisions; serve as a member of the Admission Committee.
Coordinate alumnae and parent volunteers to assist with recruitment activities by covering college fairs, participating in open house programs, and contacting applicants via telephone, letter or e-mail.
Complete all necessary follow-up activities designed to educate and encourage applicants’ interest in the College.
Coordinate follow-up activities with prospective students and their parents.
Participate in workshops, retreats, seminars, and presentations in order to enhance professional growth and development.
Maintain accurate reports and gauge the effectiveness of recruitment activities.
A bachelor’s degree is required. Spanish speaking language skills are highly preferred for this position. Strong organizational ability, high energy, a willingness to travel alone, a valid driver’s license and good driving record, and computer skills are required for this position. Must have strong written and oral communication skills.
