STATEMENT OF DUTIES: The Senior Admissions Counselor is responsible for representing and promoting Bristol Community College to prospective students, parents, school counselors, and community agencies, among others. They will manage a recruitment territory and play a critical role for the College to meet its overall strategic admissions goals. The Senior Admissions Counselor will provide leadership in the development and implementation of a recruitment strategy, targeting students of color and those from various underrepresented populations including, but not limited to, veterans, LGBTQi+, first generation students, and students with disabilities. In addition, they will work closely with the Director of Admissions, Director of the Multicultural Student Center, Director of Student and Family Engagement, and Dean of Enrollment to evaluate and continually review effective strategies for strengthening the College's commitment to diversity and issues affecting underrepresented students. They will also assist the Director of Admissions in overseeing recruitment and admissions activities, such as establishing goals/objectives for the admissions office, planning/coordinating the processing of admissions inquiries and applications, planning/coordinating the scheduling of recruitment and admissions events, developing One-Stop Enrollment Programs, and oversight of work study students.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports to the Director of Admissions.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Exercise supervision over student workers as required.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Recruitment & Partnerships
Advance Bristol's opportunities among communities of color and underrepresented populations by creating and/or seeking opportunities to engage with multicultural students and families through networking with community and education leaders in cities, public and private schools, faith organizations, education access/equity agencies, community-based organizations, and corporate and non-profit agencies or organizations.
Cultivate partnerships and pipeline relationships with other organizations and institutions, such as school districts and professional organizations with multicultural students.
Serve as a college liaison with community equity/access organizations advancing higher education opportunities for historically under-represented students.
Coordinate with Admissions staff, Director of Multicultural Center, Diversity & Title IX Officer, Director of Student & Family Engagement, and other campus representatives to ensure the College is represented at key multicultural and education events and meetings in greater Bristol County.
Partner with Assistant Director of College Access and College Access Advisor to explore and establish pathways into Bristol for underrepresented student populations participating in Dual Enrollment, CVTE, and Early College programs.
Serve as the primary point of contact in Admissions for inquiries, applicants, and admitted students of color and underrepresented populations, assisting with the onboarding transition from admissions to other College resources.
Host admissions appointments for students interested in attending Bristol.
Conduct transfer credit evaluations for students admitted to Bristol with previous College coursework.
Review applications to competitive health programs and make admission recommendations to Director of Admissions.
Coordinate with Admissions Coordinator to host campus tours and information sessions, with focus on serving students of color and underrepresented populations through these activities.
Conduct outreach to prospective and incomplete applicants notifying them of their next steps for enrollment at Bristol.
Research, develop and maintain contact list(s) for potential new marketing and recruitment channels, partnerships, and outreach.
Establish and support relationships with community based organizations within Bristol County and surrounding regions.
Participate in the planning and execution of on- and off-campus recruitment events.
Analyze data, write summary/monthly reports, and recommend future actions.
Make recommendations related to development and sustaining a multicultural recruitment plan in collaboration with Director of Admissions.
Serve on campus committees to raise awareness regarding issues affecting students of color and underrepresented populations and overall issues affecting diversity.
Serve as a representative of Bristol to professional development associations committed to diversity and inclusion.
Serve as a Designated School Officer (DSO) for students seeking to study at Bristol on an F1 visa.
Establish routine schedule of Admissions coverage at both the Fall River and New Bedford Campuses.
Perform other related duties as assigned, consistent with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Master's degree in Business Management, Marketing, Public Relations, Education, Counseling, Psychology, or closely related.
Minimum of two (2) years of professional experience and/or training that includes marketing, public relations, college admissions, credit evaluation, and academic counseling/advisement.
Community organization/non-profit experience.
Demonstrated experience working with technology, such as student information and data management systems.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrated commitment to access to higher education and diversity.
Reliable transportation to travel between campuses.
The ability to work effectively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student body.
Experience with multicultural/diversity work in higher education
Experience in a community college setting.
Previous work as a P/DSO for F1 international students.
Ability to speak a language in addition to English.
POSITION STATUS: This is an MCCC/MTA, full time, unit position with benefits. Evening and weekend hours required.
SALARY: $50,499 - $60,843 Labor Grade - 4 - actual salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience and in accordance with the MCCC/MTA Collective Bargaining Agreement.
