The Office of Admissions is seeking a highly motivated, focused, and results-oriented Admissions Counselor, who will have special responsibility working with prospective Asian/Pacific Islander students and communities. He/she will facilitate the enrollment of qualified students from a variety of backgrounds and represent the University of Minnesota to the public, provide exceptional customer service to prospective students and their families, and play a crucial role in shaping the University’s image.
Plan, participate, and work with Asian/Pacific Islander student recruitment outreach efforts on and off campus.
Serve as key liaison with high school counselors, independent counselors and other school officials.
Serve as presenter at high school programs, recruitment events, and counselor meetings.
Recruit and facilitate enrollment of prospective Asian/Pacific Islander undergraduate students.
Provide admissions counseling to prospective students, parents, and guidance counselors.
Identify, maintain, and grow relationships with college preparation organizations.
Develop and maintain relationships with Asian/Pacific Islander community organizations.
Evaluate academic and other credentials for admission decision and counseling purposes.
Implement extensive recruitment and relationship building efforts utilizing written, telephone, and in-person communication to prospective students, applicants, and admitted students.
Serve as one-stop contact for freshman admissions; provide advising and assistance throughout the admission process to students, family members, and high school counselors.
Coordinate and deliver on and off campus information sessions to recruit Asian/Pacific Islander students to apply and enroll at the University of Minnesota.
Bachelor's degree and two years of relevant work experience.
Must have a valid driver's license; must be able to travel locally and regionally for extended periods and to work evenings/weekends; some holidays as needed.

Excellent written and oral communication skills, including public speaking experience.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and take initiative.
Event planning or project management experience preferred.
Preference given to University of Minnesota graduates.
Preference given to candidates with admissions experience.
