Position Summary and ResponsibilitiesVassar College is seeking candidates for a full-time position as an Admission Counselor / Assistant Director of Admission. Exact title and salary will be commensurate with the level of experience of the successful candidate. The Admission Counselor / Assistant Director will join a team responsible for representing Vassar and participating in the selection of candidates for the entering class. Admission staff are responsible for managing and supporting a domestic territory, and four to six weeks of fall travel and one to two weeks of spring and summer travel are expected.
Represent Vassar to a wide and diverse audience in high schools and at college fair programs;
Maintain relationships with secondary school officials and partnership programs on behalf of Vassar;
Correspond with prospective students and their families;
Organize various admission activities;
Develop and maintain relationships with Vassar alumni;
Participate fully in the evaluation of applications and the selection of the first-year class;
Contribute to the multicultural student recruitment efforts;
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Qualifications: Bachelor's degree required; Two years of experience in college admissions and experience and/or attendance at selective liberal arts colleges is preferred; Must be flexible to travel for several weeks; Imagination, ambition, and willingness to work extended hours during peak periods, Strong interpersonal and organizational skills; Ability to write and speak articulately; Familiarity with computing and database systems; A valid driver's license is required.
