General Description/Primary Purpose To assist The Graduate School of Lenoir-Rhyne University (Columbia, SC campus) in identifying, enrolling, and retaining motivated and qualified students who are committed to leadership, the liberal arts and a desire to develop as a whole person, and to assist them in seeking resources to achieve their educational goals. In addition, the Enrollment Counselor creates, builds, and cultivates community relationships in the Columbia, SC, region to enhance the visibility of the Columbia Center as an integral part of the region and to assist in the recruitment of students. The Enrollment Counselor serves as an essential part of the graduate enrollment team, is energetic and demonstrates initiative, creativity, a sense of humor, the ability to work well independently and in a team, and manages multiple responsibilities concurrently.
Description of Duties and Tasks
Plan and execute daily operations related to all aspects of the graduate enrollment strategy to include communication and marketing plan, travel planning, and campus visitation and events.
Strategize and plan day-to-day workflow to facilitate progression towards desired goals.
Responsible for the Admissions process from point-of-prospect development through enrollment.
Work closely with faculty and programs for prospect development through enrollment.
Plan and oversee graduate recruiting/enrollment events.
Respond with a “sense of urgency” to all questions and/or concerns.
Review applications and make recommendations for admissions decisions.
Maintain proficiency in all enrollment management standard procedures.
Responsible for “selling” programs of all University campuses.
Conduct interviews and/or presentations to prospective students and group visitors
Make presentations to key players at target employers and sources of prospects and students.
Promote LR graduate programs in the Columbia, SC, region through the development of community relationships, including the securement of LR Partnerships.
Manage communication and visits to LR Partners and their employees.
Responsible for files and procedures associated with LR Partners.
Cultivate and build relationships with colleges and universities to expand recruiting footprint.
Foster and maintain a positive atmosphere to ensure all interactions are handled with the highest level of professionalism and customer service, develop an advanced work ethic and demonstrate the ability to prioritize and attention to detail, and work with a sense of urgency.
Analyze data and the current recruitment landscape to inform decision-making and evaluate current strategy to respond to changing markets and applicant pools.
Manage special projects and/or on-going activities as assigned by the Director and/or Dean.
Serve on University and The Graduate School committees as appropriate.
