The Admissions Counselor II, under general supervision, identifies, recruits, and contributes to increasing the population of admitted, enrolled, and underrepresented students. Serves as a mentor, coordinates travel schedules and assignments, and develops recruiting plans. This position typically works Monday-Friday; 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. May work beyond normal office hours to include evenings, weekends, and peak times. Travel is required.
Responsibilities: â¢ Identifies, recruits, and contributes to increasing the population of admitted, enrolled, and underrepresented students. â¢ Develops an effective plan for recruiting in the assigned area(s) and schools. â¢ Coordinates with high school counselors to facilitate the applications process â¢ Tracks and follows up with targeted students and parents. â¢ Advises prospective students about admissions statuses, policies, and office programs. â¢ Develops working relationships with TAMUS members, departments, counselors, and advisors to enhance customer service and satisfaction. Disseminates admissions information. â¢ Conducts on and off campus public speaking and maintains related records. â¢ Reviews admission applications and assists in conducting third reviews of applications. â¢ Works directly with applicants and their parents to resolve extenuating circumstances, complaints, and appeals of admissions denials. â¢ Completes reports on programs/projects. Proposes, organizes, plans and coordinates events including accommodations, itineraries, meals, speakers, and records. â¢ Coordinates major office programs. Serves on office committees. â¢ Performs other duties as assigned. Education and Experience: â¢ Bachelorâ™s degree in applicable field and one year of related experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: â¢ Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications. Knowledge of admissions functions of higher education. â¢ Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Licenses: â¢ May require a valid driverâ™s license.
