The Primary Care Physician Assistant Program at USC is seeking an experienced Admissions Counselor I, to join our team. Â The program has been in existence since 1972 and is housed in a new facility at the Health Science Campus-Alhambra, CA.
Â Job duties and accountabilities are described as follows:Â â¢Â Â Â Makes admission decisions for undergraduate and/or graduate programs in accordance with admission guidelines.Â â¢Â Â Â Counsels applicants on admission policies and procedures.Â â¢Â Â Â Evaluates and offers solutions to applicant problems and requests regarding admission.Â â¢Â Â Â Applies transfer credit guidelines in review and assessment of applications as appropriate. â¢Â Â Â Communicates in person, by telephone and in writing with students about the status of admissions applications.Â â¢Â Â Â Schedules recruitment activities for assigned territory or targeted student population. Arranges high school and transfer center visits, college fairs and other recruitment events.Â â¢Â Â Â Works with faculty, staff, alumni, students, and high school and community college teachers and counselors to coordinate recruitment efforts.Â â¢Â Â Â Reviews student records, inputs data, and generates letters and/or lists utilizing the student database.Â â¢Â Â Â Assists in the preparation of communications materials promoting admissions programs and activities, e.g., newsletters, bulletins, fact sheets and brochures.Â â¢Â Â Â Maintains currency on university policies affecting admissions and transfer credit evaluation.Â â¢Â Â Â Serves on departmental or university committees as requested and participates in special assignments or short-term projects as needed.Â â¢Â Â Â May be designated to lead other staff in project work.Â â¢Â Â Â Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree, Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum educationMinimum Experience: 0-6 monthsMinimum Field of Expertise: Counseling skills and/or academic advisement experience
