Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking an Admissions Officer for the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. The Admissions Counselor position reports to the Assistant Director of Campus Programs and is within the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. This individual provides all coordination of the daily campus visit program and assists with the development and implementation of the campus tour. The counselor is a member of the Campus Programs Team, which plans all on-campus programming leading to successful recruitment and enrollment of the incoming class. This includes the campus tours and Admissions Walk-In Center functions, culminating in over 45,000 visitors. The counselor has a wide range of duties that may include coordinating the aforementioned programming, off-campus recruitment and application review.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Acts as a member of the Campus Programs Team, which plans all on-campus programming leading to successful recruitment and enrollment of the incoming class.
Oversees campus tour and other specialized programs executed annually, culminating in over 45,000 visitors.
Assists in coordinating the aforementioned programming, off-campus recruitment and application review.
Oversees the daily functions of the Admissions Walk-In Center including scheduling and strategic logistics.
Collaborates with other campus programs operations such as the admissions walk-in center and the event planning group to help create the most effective, well-designed and enhanced visit experience is essential
Provides assessment and analysis of the yearly tour numbers, registrants, show rates and all demographical data associated with the campus tour. In addition, this position supports the tour survey and survey analysis.
As needed, assists/develops plans to recruit and enroll students and forge strong relations with students, parent/guardians, counselors/educational advisors, alumni, etc.
Analyzes recruitment markets, selects and participates in educations fairs/events, visits high schools, colleges or universities.
Conducts counseling sessions with prospective students, parents, school or college personnel.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Requires a bachelor’s degree
A minimum of at least 2 years of overall professional experience, preferably in admissions with campus tour and event planning experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Able to handle considerable and varied responsibilities in a fast-paced complex environment
Has outstanding organization, time-management, and multi-tasking, planning, writing, and speaking skills
works well individually as well as on a team
represents the university enthusiastically, and has an effective professional presentation
Individual will be challenged to promote the university and recruit a class to satisfy critical enrollment goals.
Sensitivity to cultural diversity and backgrounds
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and be willing to travel, when necessary, to sites throughout New Jersey for business demands.
Should have knowledge of Microsoft Office products and general computer proficiency
Previous experience in a higher education setting and student supervision is highly desirable.
