Student Recruiter (Program Coordinator NC)/Statler College 13119
The Benjamin M. Statler College is seeking applications for the position of Student Recruiter (Program Coordinator NC). The incumbent will assist with the planning and implementing of STEM recruitment and outreach initiatives in the Office of Outreach & Recruitment. This position will focus on traveling and being in appropriate markets to gain new leads and yield applicants from targeted backgrounds and regions.
In order to be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will:
Represent WVU as a road-runner admission counselor for all recruitment territories (both primary and non-primary). Travel to college fairs, high school private visits, information nights, and parent nights to counsel prospective students and families as needed.
Strategically schedule a full fall and spring travel season in collaboration with outreach and recruitment team. Travel should focus on specific enrollment goals. Make all travel arrangements including hotel and rental cars.
Identify and conduct seminar presentations in specific high school classes and for other organizations (such as student interest clubs, 4H, scouts, etc), and other STEM focused events.
Coordinate and conduct one-on-one meetings for interested students and their families. These meetings may take place in high schools, restaurants, coffee shops, or other public venues.
Present to prospective students and families as needed in the Visitors Center and other university events. Meets with families before and after presentations for one-on-one counseling.
Proactively follow-up with students from initial contact through enrollment to assure students have every opportunity to enroll. This includes maintaining open communications via phone, e-mail and surface mail as needed. All communications should be logged in CRM.
Focus on under-represented minorities and diversity initiatives to recruit a more inclusive student body.
Assist with on-campus and off-campus recruiting efforts and events including open houses, high ability events, awards nights, college fairs, and private high school visits.
Collaborate on creation and implementation of specific communication plans for STEM students using all available mediums for under-represented minorities and transfer students.
Engage (as able around travel schedule) in Key recruiter and Strategic Outreach committees on campus.
Works collaboratively with recruitment and outreach staff to identify areas of opportunity for recruitment of URM and transfer students in STEM disciplines.
Identify and assist with the creation and maintenance of articulation agreements and transfer pathways with a focus on increasing transfer student enrollment.
Evaluate transfer applications by reviewing course work and equivalency based on college transcripts and grade point averages to determine admission eligibility.
Identify and attend community college transfer days.
Other duties as assigned.
One (1) year of experience in college admission counselor, customer service, sales, marketing, public relations, advising/counseling, and /or event planning, or other relevant experience.
Must be able to travel extensively (often overnight) and to work extended hours and weekends as needed.
Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills.
Demonstrated understanding of undergraduate curricular and co-curricular.
Ability to rapidly learn WVU admission requirements, admission timeline, and basic housing and financial aid requirements and regulations.
Physical capability to transport materials weight an average of 25-40 pounds.
Valid driver's license
