Virginia State University is seeking a dynamic person for the position of Admissions Counselor. The incumbent will serve as a university liaison responsible for recruiting, admitting, and enrolling undergraduate students to meet the Universityâs enrollment goals. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The Admissions Counselor serves as an integral member of a team of professionals charged with recruiting and enrolling an exceptionally talented and diverse entering class. The incumbent will be expected to become fully engaged in the broad range of customer service through recruitment and admissions activities, including but not limited to: conducting interviews and information sessions; visiting high schools and attending college fairs; building relationships with, and serving as a resource for prospective students and their families; reading and evaluating applications; participating in the admissions committee process, and assisting with the planning and implementation of special programs on and off-campus; assists in the development, implementation and maintenance of social media platforms and admissions publications for undergraduate students entering the University; must be able to work independently with minimal supervision; coordinates and implements recruitment strategies to attract new freshmen and transfer students from an assigned geographic territory and works closely with other university offices; promptly responds to emails; makes phone calls to perspective students and other recruitment activities; and must travel extensively in-state and out-of-state, to include evenings and weekends.
