Under the direction of the Assistant Vice President, Enrollment Management and Retention, UC, the Career Pathway Specialist is focused on the recruitment, enrollment and academic success of students in the University College. The incumbent helps deliver on a comprehensive enrollment strategy designed to support students throughout their relationship with UC. The Career Pathway Specialists will be focused on engaging new leads though face-to-face recruitment, networking, presentations and communications strategies, identifying and contacting potential leads, and following up with previous leads. The incumbent will work closely with students throughout the enrollment process and coordinate with their academic advisor in degree planning and course registration.
Recruitment, Outreach and Advisement Present University College programs to potential students, across a range of enrollment pipelines, as degree pathways with multiple on-boarding opportunities and degree progression within fields of study/industry sectors.
Work individually with students to identify their personal and professional goals through tailored enrollment coaching to include the various career options and funding sources to support their educational goals.
Demonstrate deep knowledge of employment/career/labor trends and the skills and knowledge required for field/industry success when working to support prospective students through the enrollment process.
Work with students in specific career fields, across student audiences to build pipelines of qualified applicants across and within specific industry sectors.
Utilize the Slate customer relations management system to track, communicate, and generate reports related to prospective students.
Design and deliver training career pathway sessions, in partnership with employers, to prospective students.
Participate in continued research, bench-marking, and employer communication to ensure the University is using current, effective strategies.
Design and participate in career fairs and professional development events.
Experience working in admissions, sales, marketing, outreach, career counseling and/or human resources and training and development.
Strong presentation and communications skills and a comfort with both large groups and individual conversations.
Strong interpersonal skills and customer service orientation with the ability to convey and obtain information among a variety of audiences such as students, parents, alumni and staff.
Strong intercultural fluency and the ability to serve students from a wide range of racial/ethnic backgrounds and nationalities.
A commitment to, and experience with, breaking down barriers to education for individuals from disadvantaged and marginalized backgrounds.
Knowledge of available college and community resources and/or programs.
Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills.
Ability to work varying times, including early mornings, nights and weekends, to meet required timelines and accommodate the needs of partnering student organizations, evening classes, and recruitment activities.
Ability to travel to off-campus sites.
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree or on the path towards completion.
Fluency in Spanish.
