The New School seeks a Graduate Admissions Counselor to effectively represent the university's range of programs to the prospective graduate student market. Reporting to the Assistant Vice President of Enrollment, the incumbent will represent The New School graduate programs in a full range of recruitment activities, interviews, special events and admissions tasks on and off campus. To achieve enrollment goals, the successful individual will work closely with faculty, administrators, current students and prospects from The New School's range of graduate programs including The New School for Social Research (NSSR), the Schools of Public Engagement and Parsons School of Design. This position will assist in all phases of the graduate recruitment and admissions process. The role includes travel, weekend flexibility and evening hours.
Responsibilities: ●Represent The New School and serve as a primary graduate program liaison at university visits, fairs, conferences and other off-site events ●Manage a caseload of prospective graduate students within a designated recruitment territory and develop relationships with key influencers ●Review of graduate applications and recommendations for faculty ●Serve as liaison to graduate faculty regarding application review and recruitment ●Assist graduate recruitment and outreach communication efforts including schedules, e-mail, telephone and web-based activities ●Engage students throughout the pipeline; from prospect to enrolled ●Participate in recruitment, marketing, and event planning for information sessions, annual graduate program fairs, webinars, and Admitted Student Days ●Duties and projects as assigned by Enrollment Leadership
●Bachelor's degree required ●Experience in higher education ●Ability to travel and commitment to working a nontraditional schedule ●Fluency with MS Office and G-Suite ●Demonstrated customer service and communication skills ●Excellent organization and presentation skills ●Experience with Slate desirable
Preferred Qualifications: ●Knowledge of graduate education admission recruitment practices ●Experience working with graduate student populations, faculty and staff ●Knowledge of admission information technology including, student information systems, CRM and reporting tools ●Valid Driver’s license
