The Director of Admissions plans, implements and directs the activities of the admissions counseling staff. The Director is responsible for meeting annual enrollment targets for first-year student, transfer and international students. Additional responsibilities include: Working with a team of colleagues in Enrollment Management, including operations and analytics, financial aid and marketing. Maintains a close and positive relations with the athletic department on student-athlete recruiting. Supervising staff of admissions counselors and administrative support. Oversee the decision process for students applying for admission. Responsible for hiring, training and supervising admissions counselor staff. Assists in setting annual recruitment targets in consultation with Enrollment Management Team. Oversees daily operations of admissions office related to visitors, recruiting programs, and travel. Interact with faculty and share expertise to enhance an enrollment management campus culture. Knowledge of enrollment management best practices, NACAC guiding principles, Family Education Rights and Privacy Act, student services models and Admissions management software and databases. Bachelor's Degree is required, Master's Degree is preferred, with seven years of increasingly responsible managerial experience in admissions.
Excellent verbal skills, as applied in both interpersonal and group settings, are essential. Outstanding writing skills are critical. Advanced computing skills should include proficient word-processing ability, a familiarity with web-based communications and an in depth understanding of database processes; must be willing to add web content management skills as needed. Must be energetic, and able and willing to travel. Must have a valid driver's license. The successful candidate must have a master's degree in a related field, to include business, and a five year record of successful undergraduate admissions, in positions of progressive responsibility. The candidate should possess exceptional personal skills, the ability to work effectively with others, a capacity to manage multiple projects, and a strong understanding of current theories and best practices in admissions recruiting.
