Position Summary: The State University of New York at Geneseo, Office of International Student and Scholar Services is seeking a self-motivated, results and detail oriented individual who has demonstrated commitment to the values of a liberal arts education for an International Admissions Counselor position. Responsibilities for this position include actively recruiting and counseling prospective international students as well as supporting the current Geneseo international student population. Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
Effective correspondence with prospective international students and other constituents including written and verbal communication, interviewing and group presentations, event planning, and representing the College and department at on and off campus events.
Planning and implementing international recruitment activities including education fairs, school visits, student interviews, meetings with overseas recruiters, and interacting with alumni.
Contribute to the department's international recruitment plan
Application assessment including foreign credential evaluation
Student advisement on immigration topics relevant to F1 and J1 visas. Act as a DSO and ARO in SEVIS.
Assist with events and activities supporting the current Geneseo international student population. Candidates are required to work alternate schedules during recruitment periods. Many of these responsibilities entail evening and weekend commitments.
Required Qualifications A Bachelors degree Strong written and verbal communication skills Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and accuracy Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team Cultural competency and a commitment to diversity and inclusion Ability to travel internationally Possession of a valid drivers license Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident (SEVIS requirement)
Preferred Qualifications Professional experience in international admissions, study abroad, admissions, or relevant field. Previous experience as a DSO and/or ARO Proficiency in a foreign language Experience studying or working in a foreign country Masters degree preferred
