ADMISSIONS COUNSELOR FOR MULTICULTURAL RECRUITMENT , Admissions Office , to serve as an admissions officer supporting the work of the multicultural recruitment team. Will coordinate and manage major programs within MIT's outreach, recruitment, and yield efforts for enrolling underrepresented students of color; manage the coordination of fly-in programs and admitted student yield events, working closely with student ambassadors and campus and community partners; review and select undergraduate applicants with a full admissions caseload and actively participate in the admissions selection committee; regularly serve as a primary MIT representative to campus admissions visitors; and perform other duties, including several weeks of national and local travel to recruit students, meet with alumni/ae, and assist in other recruitment and yield activities as needed. Will work under the direction of an assistant director of admissions for multicultural recruitment.
REQUIRED : a bachelor's degree; at least one year of relevant experience, preferably in college admissions, multicultural student affairs, or a related field; excellent public speaking, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills; meticulous attention to detail; ability to work with minimal supervision and exercise good judgment, take initiative, and set priorities; and a driver's license. Under normal circumstances, regular evening and weekend work is required during the academic year. Several weeks of air travel is also normally required annually.
For the foreseeable future, all recruitment activities have been virtualized. Familiarity with virtual event platforms and remote presentation are strongly recommended, as well as the flexibility to adjust to rapidly changing circumstances. Please note that currently, due to the pandemic, all travel and in-person recruitment activities have been suspended. Recruitment travel programs will resume when safe to do so from a public health perspective.
