The Director of Financial Aid is responsible for the overall administration, direction, and supervision of the Financial Aid Office. Reporting to the Vice President of Financial Affairs the director is responsible for and administers complex and multi-faceted student financial aid programs consisting of grants, loans and scholarships. This leader is responsible for compliance with all Title IV and Department of Education regulations, which are essential to the University's operations. Establishes financial aid policies and provides leadership for the development of financial aid procedures. Provides leadership and guidance to Financial Aid Staff and offers training and professional development opportunities. The Director is a member of the Enrollment Management Financial Aid Committee and works closely with the VP of Enrollment and Student Experience in efforts to increase student enrollment for all programs (traditional undergraduate, non-traditional undergraduate and graduate). Active in the day-to-day operations of the financial aid office. This position is a key member of the President's Leadership Team.
Minimum of 5 years' experience in Financial Aid in a higher education institution strongly preferred Comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of the financial aid operation strongly preferred Knowledge of federal regulatory compliance and reporting requirements Excellent verbal and written communication with the ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, staff and faculty. Excellent interpersonal skills with a high level of customer service skills Ability to work effectively with external agencies and local school districts to coordinate financial aid efforts. Ellucian/Colleague Software experience preferred; knowledge of MS office products required. Supervisory experience preferred Strong leadership skills Ability to work under pressure and meet timelines and objectives Ability to interpret policies and make decisions using sound judgement. Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred in Student Personnel Administration, Education, Business Administration or related field.
