The Assistant Director of Admissions works within Enrollment Management (EM). Is a member of the EM management team and with director of admissions, manages the recruitment of new incoming freshman, transfer, nursing and/or graduate students. Admissions recruitment, counseling, outreach and application review are all significant functions of this position. This position reports to director of admissions and includes supervision of admission(s) counselors.

Provide vision, leadership, management, and ongoing training for admissions counselor(s).
Hire and coach admissions counselors to be strong territory and roster managers and hold accountable for goals and yield as set by management.
With director, analyze daily prospect/applicant reports, set conversion goals, and monitor admissions counselor(s) progress and enforce accountability.
Implement recruitment strategies as directed by senior management team.
Manage a recruitment territory or roster and may include limited travel.
Maintain scheduled contact via telephone, email and social media with prospect and applicant roster and assist admissions counselor(s) as needed based on volume and calendar. Accountable to goals and yield as set by senior management.
Develop and maintain relationships with key internal and external constituents (e.g. faculty, school counselors, transfer centers, churches, other external organizations).
Register, schedule, assign and attend recruitment activities and make presentations at on and off campus meetings, events and/or conferences.
Counsel applicants through the admission process. May include communication of basic information about financial aid awarding and financial registration.
Identify risks to the organization within the department and discuss risk reduction options with immediate supervisor.
Perform related duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree required.
Minimum of three years of experience in admissions and/or recruitment. Preference is given to candidates who have worked in admissions at Christian and/or private institutions.
Strong analytical skills, ability to analyze reports and set conversion goals.
Previous experience in a goal driven team environment.
Ability to professionally represent Vanguard University in a variety of situations.
Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with a wide range of constituents.
Strong collaborative and team-oriented interpersonal skills.
Detail-oriented, accurate, organized and efficient. Ability to work independently, handle large volumes of work, and multi-task with interruptions.
Ability to handle information in a confidential and professional manner.
Demonstrated computer proficiency in Microsoft Office. Experience with enterprise system such as Ellucian Colleague preferred and/or consumer relationship management system such as Hobsons Radius.
Overnight travel and occasional evening and weekend work required.
Ability to lift 20 lbs.
