The John Cooper School seeks an enthusiastic and knowledgeable college counselor to add to its current team of three counselors and a full-time administrative assistant. This newly added position will be Assistant or Associate Director of College Counseling, commensurate with experience, and will begin on August 1, 2021.
Guiding students and their parents through the college search and application process with enthusiasm and compassion
Writing personal recommendation letters for approximately one-fourth of each senior class (approximately 30-35 students)
Assisting with college counseling sponsored programs, events and workshops
Visiting and developing relationships with colleges and universities
Taking an active role in the community life of the Upper School, including serving as a senior advisor
Experience in college admission and/or independent school college counseling
Strong interpersonal and writing skills and excellent attention to detail
Ability to work collaboratively with the college counseling team, faculty and administration
A commitment to working with students and parents from a variety of backgrounds and experiences

Cooper enrolls over 1200 students in grades PK-12, 467 of whom are in the Upper School.
