![]() Admissions Counselor, Dallas 496477 Position Type: Staff Position Number: 20112061 Department: Enrollment Services Job Summary/Basic Function: Job Summary: Lamar University admissions counselors are responsible for recruiting prospective students by promoting Lamar University programs to undergraduate students, pre-admission advisement and ensure enrollment goals are met. This position will cover Dallas Texas, and will reside within the greater Dallas area. The position reports directly to the Assistant Director of Student Recruitment. Job Responsibilities: Minimum Qualifications: Required knowledge Skills/Abilities: Contacts with coworkers from other organizational units of the University Tact and judgment are requirements in obtaining or giving information of a confidential nature Comprehensive, practical knowledge of a technical field with use of analytical Judgment and decision-making abilities appropriate to the work environment of the organization Demonstrated time-management skills, ability to multitask, and meet deadlines Ability to work and communicate effectively and respectfully with diverse populations Strong Interpersonal skills, creative problem-solving skills, and demonstrated skills in oral and written communication Presentation and Public Speaking skills Qualifications: Bachelors degree required Valid Drivers license required Experience recruiting a diverse and varied student populations including low socioeconomic (SES), first generation, and other groups traditionally underrepresented in higher education preferred Sales experience and familiarity with customer relationship management systems, relationship selling, and other sales techniques preferred TRAVEL: Admissions Counselors are expected to travel extensively within Lamar Universitys recruitment zones. Evening and weekend hours will be required.
