Position Summary: Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking an Admissions Officer for the the Office of Undergraduate Admission-New Brunswick. The position reports to the Assistant Director of Applicant Services, the Admissions Counselor has primary responsibility for the coordination of the review and notification of undergraduate applications for admission and scholarships for Rutgers University—New Brunswick undergraduate applicants who apply through the New Brunswick Undergraduate Admissions office and are maintained on the NJAS admissions system and Enterprise CRM. In consultation with school deans, discusses academic credentials, admissions parameters, and adherence to the University Senate Policy on Undergraduate Admissions; Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Meets with admissions committees. Assists in defining and analyzing targeted populations and related parameters Communicates and provides admissions and scholarship status information to university personnel representing state and federal government relations, deans, academic, and administrative units. Drafts training manuals and participates in the training of new staff and seasonal employees in admissions selection and review procedures and policies. Participates in standard admissions counselor/officer duties, including student/family admissions counseling, presenting for information sessions, and fulfilling an assigned number of recruitment activities. Develops and completes special projects as needed.Minimum Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. A minimum of two (2) years of comprehensive experience in college admissions/enrollment management that include admission determinations, working with faculties and academic administrators, academic advising, group-leading, delegating, and ensuring completion of work assignments.Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Excellent communication skills including, writing and presentation/public speaking. Strong interpersonal skills are required including the ability to be collaborative, persuasive, and diplomatic. Organization, analytical, problem-solving, and time management skills. Ability to understand, interpret, and implement state, federal, university, and professional association regulations, rules, and criteria. Computer literacy to include Microsoft Excel, Word, Windows, Access, and other relational databases. Must be committed Use of personal vehicle in order to travel for business demands; a valid driver's license would be required for this position.Preferred Qualifications: Ability to be highly self-motivated, imaginative, flexible, and open to organizational change. Willingness to master new technology. Knowledge of federal and state regulations regarding higher education. Experience working with diverse populations of students, staff, and faculty desired.Equipment Utilized: Most functions are done online.
