The Office of Admissions at the University of Tennessee at Martin is currently accepting applications for a Regional Admissions Counselor based in the Memphis, TN area. This position is especially focused on recruiting, admitting, and enrolling first-year students in the Memphis, TN and surrounding areas. The Office of Admissions is a high-impact, high-energy, forward-thinking department that simultaneously handles multiple, on-going projects. This position will require frequent interaction with current and potential students and families, high schools, supervisees, colleagues within ESSE, and faculty/staff from across UTM's campus. This position will require occasional night and weekend hours.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Manage geographic area by creating and executing a territory strategic plan that includes recruitment strategies, tactics, resource requests, external messaging, events/programs that will help to achieve the overall enrollment goals;
- Defines travel and recruitment priorities by analyzing enrollment and application metrics;
- Travels to and independently coordinates visits with high schools and community colleges, including college fairs and private visits while determining type of visit, timing, and materials needed to make the visit as successful as it can be;
- Represent UT Martin and the Office of Admissions at recruitment events;
- Advise and conduct individual and group presentations to prospective students, parents, high school guidance counselors, community college partners, and UT Martin faculty and staff on the admissions processes, policies, financial aid/scholarship options, campus housing, academic, curricular, and related university information;
- Give oral presentations and serve as liaison with faculty and staff involved in the admissions process;
- Visit with and give campus tours to prospective students, families, and groups;
- Communicate with prospective students and their families by email, phone, social media, and direct mail concerning admissions, financial aid, housing, and academic programs;
- Assist with Summer Orientation and Registration (SOAR), Preview Days & other special events;
- Work extended hours with occasional overnight travel for recruitment;
- Other duties as assigned.
